The Explorer is one of my takes on the ideal multi-use bushcraft knife.  This one of our most popular models, and was used in a run of 50 knives for the Bushcraft USA forum.

The blade profile is a traditional drop-point.  There is a descent amount of belly, yet a fine enough tip for any intricate woodworking.  It has a 4-1/4 inch long cutting edge, and stands at roughly 1-1/16 inches tall at the base of the blade.  The blade makes an outstanding primary bushcraft knife, and works equally well for big-game hunting (field dressing, skinning, gutting, etc.).

The Mountaineer's handle shape is shared by our Explorer and Woodcrafter models.  I personally consider this handle shape to be the best possible handle shape for use in bushcraft.  It is slightly longer (4-3/4 inches overall) for added leverage in power cuts.  The coke-bottle contoured scales are handfilling and comfortable enough to carve for days.  The pommel swell at the bottom is pronounced enough to assist in removing the knife from it's deep sheath, and to "choke down" on the handle and perform wrist-flick chopping.  But the key is that the edges are rounded off, for added durability and extreme comfort no matter how you use the knife.  The knife comes standard with our hand crafted leather belt sheath.

Made in the USA.  Heirloom warranty covers defects in materials or craftsmanship, no matter how many times it's handed down or traded.
